Has anybody had an issue like this where either the US or CR denied entry being that the passport has less than 6 months’ validity? Thanks

Hi all! My 5-year-old daughter has dual US/Costa Rican citizenship. We are planning a trip to the States next month, returning to CR a few weeks before her US passport expires.

If she has dual citizenship, I would not think it would be a problem.

In general, if you go to www.travel.state.gov and enter your destination Country name, it will list Passport requirements to enter a country.  For CR it says “Passport must be valid for length of stay.”  (Mexico says for 6 months, Panama says for 3 months – it varies by country.)  Thus for non-citizens, CR could limit the Visa duration to the time remaining on the Passport.

Have you tried calling the US Embassy in San Jose?  (2519-2000)
