It depends upon the area of the country.  Guanacaste is somewhat drier.  Some parts of the Carribean coast get a lot of rain.  Do you have a specific area in mind?

I’ve been going to the Central & Southern Pacific region of CR for 11 years.  I’ve been in April, May, and September.  I have found that September is my favorite time even though it’s considered “rainy” season.  Coming from South Florida (The Keys), I’m used to the afternoon showers.  September, for me, is a less crowded, less expensive, & more lush time of year to visit.  I don’t mind the downpours & it rarely causes me to have to majorly change daily plans.  I can only speak of this area of CR, though.

When it rains for 6 months it gets tiresome by October. It really rains. Get up early and get your marketing done. Come home and take a snooze with the rain pouring down

At times it can rain every day but it doesn’t rain 24 hours a day. It seems to me that it is more like Florida than SE Asia. Rain some every day but not a monsoon. And there are a few months when it doesn’t rain much at all.
