Schools in Tamarindo – What’s the best?

I have 2 kids, ages 7 and 10. We’ll be moving to Tamarindo in August and I would like to enroll our kids in a local school instead of homeschooling them. Public or Private.
Any recommendation?

Have you considered La Paz Community School (www.lapazschool.org). Unfortunately, it’s not in Tamarindo, but rather about 25 mins away. There is a bus, however, and it’s a great school to consider. I have two children of similar ages and we’ve been here since August of last year. We absolutely love it.

Educarte by St. Joseph’s is a great school in the area. The staff are caring and experienced in helping foreign students adjust to the culture change. They are accredited by the MEP. I have kids similar in age to yours and they love it there.

Posted by Sylvia B.: “Each school in the area has it’s personality and demographic. It all depends on the experience you want your kids to have. If you want it to feel “just like home” then La Paz and CRIA are your choices for accredited schools. If you want a more “local” experience, where the kids will be with Costa Rican and learn Spanish then San Francis de Asis in Haucas or Educarte are better choices. My suggestion is not decide from home, but visit each one, see what they are about and decide what kind of experience you want for your kids.”
