What should I definitely bring with me that I can’t buy in Costa Rica?

We’ll be moving in June and are buying everything we think we’ll need there. Any suggestions on what items are extremely difficult to find there and easy in the States?

If you need them, over the counter medications.  I had an allergy flare-up, and I was forced to buy Claritin here;
cost me $35.00 US dollars

My answer is similar to Mer, I just brought down supplements and herbs that have strong antibiotic properties. I brought down most things that I could only get in a health food store in America that you can’t get down in Tamarindo, if you’re into that sort of thing.

There is a lady in Grecia that goes to the USA every 6 weeks and has a service  Shop and Ship.  You send it to her home in Fla and she brings it down for a good fair price.  She is on the Que Pasa Site. Her name is GeeGee . She has many people that use her service. You have to go pick it up at her home in Grecia. Her number is 2495-0149

LOOK on QUE PASA GROUP UNDER SERVICES…. SHOP AND SHIPPING…  GEEGEE

Any electronics that you use, you should bring.  Those are cheaper here.  Also, your car.  You will typically get a car in much better shape if you bring it from the States and know the history.

Bring peanut butter and jelly!  No kidding.  It is like 8 times the price here.  Go to Costco or similar and buy the large jars.

Bring spices if you want anything other than usual for example slap your mama, Cajun seasoning etc. I also brought plastic storage containers in all sizes because they are expensive here. The large one help to keep things like clothes from molding during rainy season. Women bring hairspray you can’t find it anywhere.
